All people entering Italy, by plane, train, sea or road, even if they have no symptoms, must immediately report their arrival to the Prevention Department of the competent Local Health Authority. They will be placed under health surveillance and will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
The rule has been introduced by a Decree signed yesterday by Health Minister Roberto Speranza and by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Paola De Micheli. The measure is valid until 25 March and is intended to counter the further spread of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
Report any symptoms to the Local Health Authority (ASL)
If you develop Covid-19 symptoms, you must notify the health authority immediately, calling the dedicated hotlines.
Exceptions for work requirements (maximum stay of 72 hours)
People coming to Italy for proven work reasons and staying for no more than 72 hours (which can be extended by a further 48 hours for duly justified reasons) must state in writing that they are entering exclusively for work reasons. If they develop Covid-19 symptoms, they must contact the competent Local Health Authority (ASL) immediately and, if so instructed by doctors, they must self-isolate.
Exclusion of workers of companies having their registered office in Italy
The provisions of the Decree do not apply to the workers of companies having their registered office in Italy.
