Covid-19 weekly monitoring, report of March 15 – 21, 2021

The national incidence is still extremely high.

In view of the predominance of some viral variants with greater transmissibility, it is recommended that physical interactions between people and mobility are drastically reduced. The average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.08 (range 0.93 - 1.21), slightly decreased compared to the previous week.

The overall number of people admitted to the ICU is still increasing, with a national occupancy rate above the critical threshold.

A similar trend can be observed for the medical areas.

The data on incidence, transmissibility and heavy overloading of hospital services require the maintenance of strict national mitigation measures, accompanied by timely mitigation/containment in the areas of greatest prevalence.

It is essential that the population avoids all occasions of contact that are not strictly necessary with people outside their own homes and stay at home as much as possible. Careful individual behaviour and compliance with hygiene and sanitation measures regarding distance and proper use of masks are mandatory.

We reiterate the need to respect the measures recommended by the health authorities, including the quarantine measures of close contacts of confirmed cases and isolation.
