Covid-19 weekly monitoring, report of March 8 – 14, 2021

A further increase in incidence was observed at national level. The incidence exceeds the level of 250 weekly cases per 100,000, which requires the highest possible level of mitigation. In the period from  February 24 - to March 9, 2021, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was 1.16 (range 1.02- 1.26), still above one throughout the range.

A deterioration in the overall risk level was confirmed for the seventh consecutive week. The number of people admitted to intensive care is increasing sharply, with a national occupancy rate above the critical threshold. A similar trend can be observed for medical areas.

The high incidence, increased transmissibility and heavy overloading of hospital services require the maintenance of stringent national mitigation measures accompanied by timely mitigation/containment in the areas of highest prevalence.
