"I have signed a new ordinance to ban flights departing from the UK and entry into Italy to anyone who has transited there in the last 14 days". These are the words of Minister Speranza who, on his new Ordinance of December 20, 2020, also states that anyone who is already in Italy, coming from that territory, even if asymptomatic, is required to be tested through an antigenic or molecular swab by contacting the prevention departments.

"The Covid variant that was recently discovered in London is causing great concern and will have to be investigated by our scientists. In the meantime, we are taking a cautious approach" said Speranza, who added: "We do need the highest level of coordination in Europe, in terms of measures relating to the UK. Only concerted and shared decisions can help us to manage the situation in the best possible way, after the emergency of these first hours".

The ordinance is effective from December 20 to January 6, 2021.
