Covid-19, situation report update at 17 May 2020 18.00

At Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee keeps working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the National Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory:

• 68.351 people have tested positive
• 125.176 patients have recovered
• 31.908 died however, this number can be confirmed only upon certification of cause of death by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.

To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 225.435

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 27.430 in Lombardy, 10.239 in Piedmont, 5.656 in Emilia-Romagna, 4.041 in Veneto, 2.802 in Tuscany, 2.456 in Liguria, 3.910 in Lazio, 2.565 in the Marche, 1.696 in Campania, 301 in the autonomous province of Trento, 2.017 in Puglia, 1.555 in Sicily, 654 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 1.422 in Abruzzo, 314 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 78 in Umbria, 405 in Sardinia, 68 in the Aosta Valley, 422 in Calabria, 104 in Basilicata and 216 in Molise.
