Covid-19 weekly monitoring, report of November 2 - 8

The report of the Control Room - Cabina di Regia for the period November 2 – 8, shows that the seriousness of the epidemic in Italy is intensifying, due to an increasing impact on healthcare services. However, there has been  a slight reduction in transmissibility, compared to the previous week. Although the level of transmissibility is still considered remarkably high, the reduction could be an early signal of the impact of the mitigation measures introduced at national and regional level since October 14, 2020.

This trend will have to be confirmed in the coming weeks and should not lead to reduce the current measures in force or pay less attention to appropriate behaviours.

In most of the national territory the transmissibility is compatible with a Type 3 scenario, with a decrease in the number of Regions/PAs where the transmission speed is already compatible with a Type 4 scenario.

The situation described in this report highlights strong criticality of territorial services and the current or imminent reaching of the critical thresholds of hospital services staffing in an increasing number of Regions/PAs. This affects the whole national territory.

All Regions/PAs are classified at high risk of an uncontrolled and unmanageable epidemic on the territory, or at moderate risk with high probability of progressing into high risk in the coming weeks.

There is a need to strengthen mitigation measures in all Regions/Pas, according to the level of risk identified as indicated in the essential document "Prevention and response to Covid-19: strategy evolution and planning in the transition phase for the autumn-winter period" issued in the Memo by the Ministry of Health on October 12, 2020.
